Home

We made it home yesterday.  Two 500+ mile days to get from Smithers BC to Kalispell, then what should have been a lazy trip the remaining 200-300 miles was marred a bit by a stuck chain link in Isaiah's bike.  Made for a rough ride for him but he limped to Bozeman and made it safe and sound.

I'll be continuing to post pictures and videos as I work through the nearly 1.3TB of video and picture data that we gathered on the trip.  It'll take some time, but you'll find it all here.  I plan to break it down in segments. Here's a picture of Denali to start.

The rest of the images from my phone camera can be found at this link, since they were easy to post.

Back to whitehorse

Staying at Takhini Hot Springs. Just got a soak after a long ride through stiff head winds from Dawson. This is as sore as my butt has been all trip. Also it's the warmest weather we have seen. 85F here in Whitehorse. It's suddenly summer!

Dawson Ferry

Riding over to Dawson City.

Back to Tok

Camped at the Eagle Claw again. Good times around the campfire and a good night's sleep. Headed to Dawson City today.

Camped in McCarthy

Made it to McCarthy. 60 miles up a dirt road. It was a super fun ride.  Raining lightly. Warm with lots of mosquitos. First we've had them bad, but deet keeps them away.

In Valdez

Beautiful ride in over the pass. Waterfalls everywhere. Stunning. Now camping in town. Not so scenic but still not bad.

End of the road

Made it to Seward.

Tire change in Anchorage.

We don't need no stinkin' techs!  Tire change in record time thanks to zip ties.

It's a beautiful morning for a ride to Anchorage.

Heading toward Talkeetna

Not sure where we will end up camping tonight. We will find something.

Denali

Made it to Fairbanks

Cold and rainy yesterday after we left Tok. We got a hotel last night to dry off and warm up. Still cold and rainy this morning but it looks like things will improve today over yesterday.

Thompsons Eagle Claw Bike Campground

Landed at Thompson's Eagle Claw last night. What a fantastic place!  Bikers only campground in Tok. Awesome people, and Vanessa who runs the place is a real gem. The place has a sauna and a full workshop. Even has spare tires.

Headed to Fairbanks. Post from last night wouldn't publish so I'll try from a place with better service later today.

In Fort Nelson

Camping Night 3

Nice spot on a lake. No cell service. Loons calling. Bugs aren't too bad.

Packing up

Rained last night but a bluebird day is coming, it looks like. Packing up for day 4. Hope to get to Fort Nelson or to a hot spring beyond.

Beautiful ride

Arctic divide

Headed for Chetwynd

Not sure we will make it that far. Probably no service there or wherever we stop for the night. Will check in tomorrow. In Prince George now.

Jasper is pretty

Pics don't do it justice

Hotel in Jasper

After a day of riding through rain and even snow we decided to grab a hotel in Jasper. The frosting on the bikes this morning confirmed that the decision was correct.  It was a beautiful ride on the ice fields parkway yesterday and we tolerated the cold pretty well. Heated jackets are the bomb, but Isaiah did it without which is astounding to me.

We are off to Prince George and then back East to Dawson Creek area tonight.

Off for the ice field highway!

Packed up and headed out. A couple of minor tech glitches resolved and brekky had. Ready to roll.

First night

A sprinkle of rain and a few mossies. Otherwise a fine place to stop. Long days ride today.

Departure!

After many years of dreaming and months of planning we are finally off!  Bikes are loaded heavily, more than I'd like but about what I expected. Time to gear up and go!
